Paper Crafting Blog Hop - Procrastinator's Christmas Cards

We have a great blog hop for you this month. Our November Paper Crafting Blog Hop theme is December Holidays. I can't wait for you to see all of the fun projects and design styles from this group of talented Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the globe! Be sure to stop at each of our blogs. You may have arrived from Terri's blog. She always does such fun projects!

I admit it, I'm a procrastinator

Every year I think I'm going to get started early making my personal Christmas cards and nearly every year I'm working at the last minute burning the midnight oil. So, I've discovered that a great solution is to simplify my card design and to utilize Designer Series Paper (DSP). This card design is great for a beginner or just when you want to make several cards in a short amount of time.

I started with one full sheet of the PAINTED CHRISTMAS DSP. This pattern from the set has a great bold all over design that can be turned any direction.

Then I cut it into 8 pieces of the same size (3" x 5-1/4" or 7 cm x 14.4 cm) for ease and to save time. There were leftover pieces that I cut down to 8 skinny strips (1/4" x 5-1/4" or .05 cm x 14.4 cm) to give the inside of my cards a little something extra that coordinated with the front of my card. (There was even a few more scrap pieces that I'll save for another project).

My simple version uses one of the die cuts from the SEASONAL LABELS dies and sentiments from the CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER stamp set. And just a strip of the CHERRY COBBLER & GOLD metallic ribbon (4" or 10 cm). Using a strip behind the sentiment focal point is much easier and quicker than tying bows for multiple cards. And using the STAMPARATUS for stamping multiples of the outside and inside sentiments is a great time saver too!

Now for those of you (including me) who really like a little extra on their cards (when they have the time) I also made a "stepped up" version of this same card design. I moved the stamp over a little on the label die and added HOLIDAY RHINESTONE basic jewels and part of the pine boughs from the CHRISTMAS PINECONE dies cut from the GOLD FOIL SHEETS specialty paper.

I hope I've inspired you to make some quick & simple Christmas cards even if you haven't started yet! (Keep scrolling down for a complete list of all of the products used for these cards. And don't forget that you can substitute items in your own stash too).
